※ temper は相互にまったくく矛盾するような３つの意味を持つ単語なので、訳出にはじゅうぶん気をつけよう。以下、入試で良く狙われる表現を挙げる。

◎「1. 気質」

・ have an equal[even] temper「穏やかな気性」

◎「2. 平静な気分」

・ keep one's temper 「平静を保つ」

・ be out of temper 「怒っている」

◎「3. 心配させる・する」は、be troubled about [over] A / trouble about [over] A の形で使うことが多い。

　「彼の両親は彼の病気のことを心配している」

◎「5. 〜するように骨を折る」 は、trouble to do / take the trouble to do 「わざわざ〜する」の形でよく使われる。

・ Don't trouble to call me back.

　 「わざわざお電話をかけていただかなくても結構です」

・ He took the trouble to inquire after my health.

◆ run

（動） 1. 走る 　2. 〜の状態になる 　3. 経営する

◎「2. 〜の状態になる」の意味では自動詞になる。run の後にはマイナスイメージの語句がくることが多いことにも注意しよう。

・ He ran short of money.「彼はお金が不足してきた」

・ He ran out of money[time / ideas / luck / patience].

　 「彼はお金が無くなった [時間切れ・ネタが尽きる・運が尽きる・我慢の限界を超える] 」

◎「3. 経営する」の意味では他動詞で目的語をとる。

・ He runs a book store. 「彼は本屋を経営している」
